Season 2011 is one of the best in my cycling career. Starting from the beginning, I scored a podium at the World Cup in South Africa, later I noted the places in first 10 in Cups...
Polish Championships were the same as a year ago, the gold in theU23 and the silver in Elite. Later, in Zieleniec, I began preparations for the European Championships. Unfortunately Championships did not go quite well and so far I do not know what was the reason for such poor performance. After this race I had a moment of weakness, and I was devastated, because I did everything very diligently, but in spite of that, it went wrong.
One weekend later was the World Cup in the Czech Republic and I confirmed my suspicions that I was not as poor as I thought. I won another third place, and during the race I was going very well. The less time was left the World Championships, more I felt stronger. In the week before the World Cup in Val di Sole, along with the staff I was on a route reconnaissance in Champery. The final edition of the World Cup brought me a second place, after a very successful ride at the end of the race. Thanks to this I won a third place in the General Classification of the World Cup.
Now it's probably time to write about the best moment during this season, which was the MTB World Championships in Champery. I knew the route very well, because together with Marek Galiński we have checked all the options. After the relay race, in which I came very high up in the Elite, and my rivals from the U23 category I passed without any problem, I was certainly grounded a little mentally. Race for the World Championship was not arranged my way from the beginning, because first I had a small fall, and then broke the seatpost at a downhill. Fortunately, thanks to the mechanic, Hubert Grzebinoga, I was able to continue the race.
As it later turned out I came with the form perfectly, I was so good that nothing on that day was able to prevent to win a medal. When I crossed the finish line, I believed that I succeeded, and waited for this moment for almost 8 years.
Vice World Championship is the biggest success in my career! I made my plans for this season at 100% and when it comes to my sport level, I raise it every year bit by bit and let it stay like this. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my sponsors who, through the whole season, helped me and all those without whom this success would not probably be! Next month is a time for a rest after a very long season, but it's possible that in November you'll see me on a few cross-country races in Poland ...
